Project Info

Proposal name: Elaboration of Polish children and adolescents blood pressure reference range
Project description: Project description: To elaborate arterial blood pressure reference range for Polish children and adolescents aged from 7 to 18 years 17 000 persons will be examined (approximately 1 300 per year of birth). This number will allow the reference range to be determined by age, sex and height percentiles of: 3, 5, 10, 25, 50, 75, 90, 95, 97 and 99; as well as BMI categories. The epidemiological study will be conducted on the basis of the protocol approved by the Independent Bioethics Committee; consent in writing will be obtained each time from the parent and child. Project participants will be sampled from all Polish pupils sampling frame. The children’s health status will be determined by physical examination conducted at school. Only healthy children will be enrolled in the study to determine the reference range. Blood pressure will be measured on three times in one minute interval. Additional anthropometry parameters (height, weight, hip and waist circumference, skin-folds: triceps, subscapular, abdominal) will be measured. Data will be analyzed with LMS Chartmaker and sample will be weighted.
